Clear Cached Data in Topo

Learn what Topo stores in its cache and what clearing it does and does not remove.

Overview

Topo temporarily stores some information on your device to make screens faster and reduce data use.

Clear cached data when you want to remove those temporary files and reset issues such as stale display information or an old image still appearing.

Types of Cached Data in Topo

  • Image cache used to display cards and attachments more quickly
  • Cached titles and previews for web links attached to cards
  • Cached reverse-geocoding results used for addresses on the map

These are temporary display aids. They are separate from your account and from the underlying data stored in Topo.

What Clearing the Cache Removes

  • Temporarily stored image cache on your device
  • Temporarily stored link preview data on your device
  • Temporarily stored address display cache on your device

What Clearing the Cache Does Not Remove

  • Account information
  • Your profile and rank
  • Published cards
  • Favorites
  • Drafts
  • Your sign-in state

This does not delete your data, so it serves a different purpose from Sign Out or Delete Account.

Steps

  1. Open your profile screen.
  2. Choose Clear Cache.
  3. After the completion message appears, reopen the screen if needed.

When to Use It

  • An old image or preview still appears
  • The content shown for a web link does not update
  • You want to reset the address display around the map

Notes

  • After clearing the cache, images and link previews can take a little time to download again.
  • Because this only removes temporary data, it should not normally affect your ability to keep using Topo.
  • Sign Out of Your Account
  • Check Account Deletion and Recovery in Topo
