What Is Scouter?

Overview

Scouter is a guide inside Topo that observes local information and helps find topics connected to places.

Scouter appears in connection with public cards and activity on the map. In some places, Topo may show cards based on nearby news or local topics.

When an Area May Become a Scouter Observation Target

An area may become a Scouter observation target when the same user posts public cards in the same area across two days, or when multiple users post public cards in the same area on the same day.

If Scouter generates a card, users who contributed to that generation may be shown as contributors on the card.

Cards Are Not Guaranteed

Even when these conditions are met, Scouter does not always generate a card. Cards are not delivered immediately.

If Scouter cannot observe enough information in that area, it may stop observing there and move to another place.

Privacy

When Scouter appears, your personal information or exact behavior is not shared with other users. Topo treats changes in the city as place-based information and is not designed around follows or viral sharing.
